BULLETIN 2/2008

DISTINGUISHED SPORTS CLUBS OF THE NBDSF MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS

When I am writing this, it is still 52 days till the opening of the Sports Festivals. The organisational activities for the Sports Festivals are well underway.
We are asking the clubs to have patience with receiving the final schedules for the competitions and the festival programme.
We can finalise the schedules only after we have the final number of participants in our hands. In practice we will have the schedules ready by 22.5. when the organisers have received all the names of participants. Right after that we will inform the clubs about more detailed accommodation information and other up-to-date issues.

FINAL REGISTRATIONS

After receiving the final registrations we know that there will be 382 athletes from six countries and 23 sports clubs participating these festivals, which will be organised for the first time (enclosed please find further information on the participants).

We would kindly like to remind you that the names, birth dates, sport events, accommodation alternative and arrival and departure times should be sent by 22.5.2008 either by email or by post to the following address: juha-matti.aaltonen@skul.org /SKUL/Läntinen Pitkäkatu 21-23D, 4krs. 20100 TURKU, FIN.

- We would like to remind you that regarding the hotel bookings and reservations for the ferry you should contact our contact person in the Viking Line directly: fibban.lundqvist@vikingline.fi
- Those who will be using the school accommodation should send information directly to the SKUL office: juha-matti.aaltonen@skul.org
- We hope that you could familiarise yourself again with the information concerning the travelling and accommodation issues, which can be found in our previous letter and the NBDSF home pages.

POSTER

The Sports Festivals poster has come out. We will send you the festival poster enclosed, which you can copy according to your own needs. We will also send the original posters to the clubs by post.

OTHER ISSUES

We would like to emphasise that this festival for the sports clubs of the NBDSF member organisations
will be organised for the first time. In addition to that, this event will be organised on an island,
which has its own ways of working and culture.

The most important thing is to get as many deaf people as possible who are interested in sports
together at the same time in the same place and to create a common festival spirit. Although it is
a question of a sports festival, all competitions and matches will be carried out in so-called
friendship spirit. We hope that you will come to the festivals with a positive mind and flexibility.

In connection with the festivals a joint seminar will be organised where the situation of the sports clubs
and organisation of these kinds of festivals in the future etc. will be discussed. Our idea is to carry out
this kind of sports festival every two years on Åland, if there is enough interest for it.

The next bulletin will be sent to you approximately in two weeks. Now the most important thing is to
get your travelling and accommodation issues into order as soon as possible. The competition schedules
will be carried out in a flexible and constructive spirit.

With co-operation wishes,

Juha-Matti Aaltonen
Secretary for the Sports Festivals
